Dr. Niamh Hamill is the director of the Institute of Study Abroad Ireland. She holds a Masters Degree in American Studies from University College Dublin and a Ph.D. in History and Culture from Drew University, New Jersey. She began writing and delivering programs in Irish Studies for U.S. students in 1996 at Ashfield College, Dublin. In 2001 she relocated to County Donegal, in Ireland’s Northwest, and with fellow director John O' Connell, founded the Institute of Study Abroad Ireland.
The Institute of Study Abroad Ireland facilitates short-term faculty led trips from USA colleges and universities, professional development programs for college administrators and faculty, and early college programs for high schools. In 2016 the Institute of Study Abroad Ireland was selected to design and deliver the Irish Government’s Global Irish Summer Program for the US Global Irish Diaspora Project.
